Marge Biancke, Ann Arbor News Food Writer, has become Kitchen Port’s Demonstration Coordinator! We are very excited about having Marge on board and you can look forward (as we do!) to lots of fresh and exciting ideas. Marge’s experience and imagination will be a tremendous addition to the Kitchen Port family and we hope you will welcome her eagerly.
You can see Marge in action in our kitchen on Wednesday, September 3, for her “Peach of a Fall” class.

Aug 20 Wed 12-1 pm Be the talk of the town at your next dinner party with Chicken Wellington. Jason Yonkin, Executive Chef of Ann Arbor Golf and Outing will demonstrate this very impressive but do-able entrée.
Aug 27 Wed 12-1 pm Old Friends Merrill Crockett and Rita Herman return to Kitchen Port, showing us the ins and outs of harvesting, preserving and using herbs. Some of the specifics they will cover are: drying, air drying, dehydration, freezing, tinctures, herbal vinegars and butters.
Sept 3 Wed 12-1 pm Marge Biancke, Ann Arbor News Food Writer presents A Peach of a Fall. Marge will demonstrate peach salsa, peach toast, peach quesadillas and other dishes using fresh Michigan peaches.
Sept 7 Sun 1-2 pm Did you ever wonder how professional bakers braid bread and get those other beautiful shapes? Jackie Walter, Food Director of Ann Arbor Golf and Outing, will show you how it’s done.
Sept 10 Wed 12-1 pm Chef Chris Carr of U of M Catering Services will show us how to throw a championship tailgate party!
Sept 17 Wed 12-1 pm Chef Eric Villegas, author of “A Fork in the Road,” based on his PBS series of the same name will demonstrate Michigan cuisine.
Sept 24 Wed 12-1 pm Amanda Schinske of Arbor Farms—one of the original organic food stores in southeast Michigan—demonstrates a variety of healthy and delicious salads.
Oct 5 Sun 1-2 pm Chef Bryant Stuckey of Decadent Delights will satisfy your sweet tooth with his irresistible desserts.
Oct 12 Sun 1-2 pm Truffles (the chocolate kind) are on the menu when Nancy Biehn is the demonstrator. Nancy is the owner of Sweet Gems Confections, located inside Morgan and York, 1928 Packard in Ann Arbor.
Oct 18 Sat 11 am - 3 pm Moblie Sharpening Services will be back in time for the holidays. The cost is $3.00 per sharpening and Moblie Sharpening will give $1.00 of every sharpening to the Huron Valley Humane Society. (You know that’s our favorite charity!)
Oct 19 Sun 1-2 pm Fresh pastas and great sauces will be the main course with Chef Jason Self of Palio.
Oct 22 Wed 12-1 pm Get ready for spooky and delicious Halloween cupcakes with Cake Decorator extraordinaire, Dahlia Weinman of Dahlia’s Custom Cakes.
Nov 2 Sun 1-2 pm It’s chilly outside but warm inside as John Roos of Roos Roast teaches his popular Espresso 101 class. Join us for a coffee adventure.

Nov 7 Fri 7-9 pm THE RETURN! Connie Meisinger—Cookies Too Pretty to Eat! Pretty, yes, but oh so delicious! Connie Messinger, owner of House on the Hill, is coming to Ann Arbor to teach this very special class. She will demonstrate the following cookies and techniques: Springerle and Molded Gingerbread. She will also show us how to work with Speculaas molds and discuss using marzipan, chocolate, fondant, edible paint and luster dust. Recipes will be provided along with taste samples plus some to take home. Demystify this wonderful cookie technique and use it year round. CLASS FEE IS $20.
